Children’s Formation

For it was you who formed my inmost parts; you knit me together in my mothers womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works.
— Psalm 139:13-14children-at-play
Children and Youth of all ages are a gift to us, and we welcome their full engagement in the life of this church through:

We encourage children to be a part of our worship services each week. There are  activity bags for children 9 and under. Many parents find that sitting near the front helps their children to participate more fully. Don’t worry if your child is noisy. Their presence reminds us of all that is good in the world.

Children’s Chapel

Children’s Chapel takes place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays during the 10:15 service and provides children ages 4-7 an opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate worship.  Children depart after the opening Hymn of Praise and return to their parents at the Peace.

Our nursery is open for children 5 and younger every Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m., and is staffed by two trained volunteers with certification in Safe-Child StandardsThe nursery is also always looking for volunteers who are willing to serve as substitutes or as extra help on days that have particularly large attendance. Contact the church office if you are interested in signing up.

Worship Book

Children are provided their own bulletin with Scripture readings and activities. Parents and children are encouraged to take home their bulletin and discuss what they have learned.

Worship Ministers
Children are invited to serve as readers, acolytes, ushers, and musicians. No special skills are needed; all training is provided.

Sunday School is held each week for children ages 3-11 from 9:15 am until 10:00 a.m. Classes are led by trained volunteers who are also Safe Church Certified.

Godly Play (3yrs-Kindegarten years of age)

Godly Play is a Montessori based program that helps kids explore their faith through story, wonder, and play. Teachers invite children to “wonder.” “I wonder what was the most important part of the story for you.” “I wonder why the characters in the story acted the way they did.” Older children are invited to explore Bible maps and prophet studies as they become more advanced.

Journey through the Bible (1st-2nd Grades)

During the 2016-17 program year, we are focusing on stories from the Old Testament using Sparkhouse’s Award winning program: Journey through the Bible. This class focuses on familiarizing children with the overall narrative in the Bible and helps them to understand how God works through ordinary people just like them.

Connect Faith: (3rd-5th Grades)
Connect Faith: Using video, Bible exploration, and hands-on projects, older kids journey through the Old and New Testaments and learn ways to live out their faith in the daily lives.

Every month the Fellowship Team hosts family game nights with dinner, music, and activities for children and adults.  See the Fellowship Page for more information and upcoming dates. On the Sundays in Advent we have a Christmas Crafts Workshop, Breakfast with St. Nicholas, and our annual nativity pageant.
